How to bond Brick Slips. Hints, tips and recommendations

Brick slips are becoming increasingly common as the construction industry finds innovative methods of improving the aesthetic look to walls, internally and externally, in the most efficient way possible.  There are now many companies promoting their system for Brick Slip application and most of them require adhesives to bond the slips to the walls, before pointing and grouting.

Most commonly used are MS polymers and polyurethane adhesives.  There are some systems which required hand trowel application but the cleanest and most efficient are the systems which have a back board with guide lines so the brick slip can be applied quickly and accurately.  The adhesives used for these systems are normally MS polymers and polyurethane adhesives.  Both give excellent bonds, but there are differences to two types of adhesive technology.  The same adhesives can be used for bonding brick slips directly to the wall substrate.

Aro-Seal® 1155 is a fast cure, high grab, MS polymer adhesive giving an excellent cure strength.  As Aro-Seal® 1155 is an MS polymer, it is solvent and water free, non-bubbling and has excellent UV resistance.

Alternatively, Aro-Seal® 1132 can also be used.  Aro-Seal® 1132 is a flexible, fast curing, polyurethane adhesive sealant which gives an excellent bond strength, and is particularly good for substrates which are more difficult to bond and require an adhesive to etch into the surface.
