PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Woodstikk® 18 is suitable for use on porous and non-porous substrates such as mosaic, anhydrite, concrete, screed, wood, chipboard and OSB board (large particle size chipboard), including floors with underfloor heating.

Woodstikk® 18 is based on hybrid polymer technology, and when fully cured forms an elastic and non-shrinkable adhesive layer, which is resistant to moisture and heat.

The adhesive has excellent adhesion to most common substrates used in the construction industry.

Woodstikk® 18 contains no water or solvent, minimising the risk of the parquet deforming.

Woodstikk® 18 meets the requirements of EN 14293:2006 and ISO 17178:2013.

PREPARATION AND APPLICATION

The surfaces to be glued must be sound, clean, dry and free from dust, grease and other contaminants. Existing floors must be free from all polish/wax. Prime/stabilise friable concrete/anhydrite and floors with residual adhesive with G91 Primer before application.

Subject to recommendations made by the flooring manufacturer, subfloors should be subject to 28 days of maturing and should have a maximum of 3% moisture content or 70% equilibrium relative humidity before using this adhesive. The room in which the floor is being installed should be in excess of 15°C and register an ambient humidity between 40% and 70% while the adhesive is being used. For moisture contents between 3.1% and 7%, or over 70% relative humidity, a suitable primer and moisture barrier should be used. Do not use this adhesive above these recommendations. Very porous or friable surfaces should first be primed with G91 Primer and allowed to dry. Under floor heating must be turned off 48 hours before and 48 hours after the adhesive has been applied.

It is extremely important to monitor ambient conditions throughout installation, as any change in these conditions could cause issues such as condensation, which could directly impact the success of the bond even though the substrate reading may appear correct.

FLOORING: The parquet flooring MUST be acclimatized for several days in the room where it is to be installed. Leave in original packaging during this period. Check before installation that the moisture content of the wood is as recommended by the supplier, (generally 9% +/- 2%). If the humidity of the wood is more than 11% installation is not recommended.

Allow a gap of 1 to 1.5 cm around the perimeter of the laid parquet, including any columns or structures, which penetrate the floor.

APPLYING THE ADHESIVE: Open pail and, if applicable, inner foil pack. Trowel onto floor. Spread evenly with a suitable notched trowel at no less than 0.5kg/m2. Do not spread more adhesive than can be covered within 60 minutes. Place planks/blocks into position whilst adhesive is still tacky (within 60 minutes) and tap into final position with mallet and block, removing uncured adhesive with Ureka Wipes. (Caution - test compatibility with lacquer finished blocks first).

TROWEL REQUIREMENTS: For best results, we recommend that the following trowel notch types are used for the stated plank/block types:

For solid wood parquet blocks up to 400mm length use a B3 orr 3/16”x5/32” V-notched trowel.

Solid and engineered parquet blocks and planks in excess of 400mm length use a B11 (23/48) or 1/4”x3/16” V-notched trowel.

Floor may be sanded/ trafficked 24 hours after application, depending on site conditions (longer at low temperatures).

Adhesive coverage of approximately 1kg per 1m2 is recommended.

Handling and Storage

Clean machines, equipment and tools with white spirit before the adhesive dries.

Keep in well-closed original packing at a temperature between +5°C to + 25°C. Protect from wet and water. The shelf life of the original packed and correctly stored product is minimum 12 months. Partly used sack, should be air protected closed immediately and used as soon as possible.
